Hi!After a couple days of the blog backend not letting me in, I think everything's fine now. I'm posting this just to make sure. Hey, apparently we can embed videos into our blog posts now, so the days of YouTube flash might be well and over. We'll see how this goes.So I was at Electronic Arts the other day, with every other video game journo and their mom, and we saw a bunch of new games.
The absolute most interesting thing there, though, was a game called, which will be included with Half-Life Episode 2. It's a brilliant-looking first person puzzle game in which you create portals by shooting the walls. Okay, let me back up. You can place an entry portal and an exit portal anywhere in a given room, and those portals will then be connected. By doing this and only this, you navigate your way through the rooms. So, for instance: there might be a robot that shoots you and a block that you can't move.

So you create a portal on the wall over the robot, then create a portal under the block. The block falls through the floor, then falls out the wall – momentum carries it forward, gravity pulls it down onto the robot which gets smashed. This game is based on a DigiPen student project called, which you can download freely.

Do check it out: as a student project, of course, it's not as polished as Portal will be, but it gives you the idea of what they're aiming for. And it's damn fun.
